With a foundation in industrial design and a generalist skillset in engineering, Charles is able to bridge the gap between product conceptualization and realization across a diverse landscape of product categories and industries.
Drawing from his competencies in both design and engineering, he brings a perspective to product development that is domain-agnostic and truly holistic.
His interdisciplinary background in both industrial design and design engineering enables him to engage with all dimensions of product development: the human-facing domains — usability, human-factors, ergonomics, CMF, branding, marketing, and the domains of product realization — design for manufacturing and assembly (DFMA), mechanism design, structural design and analysis, and proof-of-concept prototyping.
Charles has 14 years experience in product development, driving numerous products from concept to market over the span of his professional career — from IoT devices to wearable technology, app-enabled products, consumer electronics, tools, furniture, outdoor equipment, and fitness products.
He holds a dual Masters (MSc/MA) in Innovation Design Engineering from Imperial College London and Royal College of Art, and a Bachelors (BFA) in Industrial Design from Carnegie Mellon University.
